The draw for the group stage begins at 5 p.m. BST today and the Pots are as follows:

Seeded: Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk, Monaco, Spartak Moscow

Pot 2: Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Manchester City, Porto, Manchester United

Pot 3: Napoli, Tottenham, Basel, Olympiakos, Anderlecht, Liverpool, Roma, Besiktas

Pot 4: Celtic, CSKA Moscow, Sporting CP, APOEL, Feyenoord, Maribor, Qarabag, RB Leipzig

The first group games will be played on September 12-13 and Spurs will be looking to advance further in the competition with last years experience under our belt. Mauricio Pochettino will have learnt a lot and that the competition can not be taken lightly. However, for Spurs, the Premier League and gaining qualification again is probably a priority.

We can not draw Chelsea from the seeded teams and we can only draw one team from each country so for example, if we drew Real Madrid as a seeded team, we could not draw Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Sevilla, Manchester United and Manchester United for Pot 2 and Liverpool from Pot 3.

That scenario would leave us only being allowed to draw French side PSG, German side Borussia Dortmund and Portuguese side Porto from Pot 2.

If we drew Bayern Munich from Pot 1 then we could only draw Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, PSG, Sevilla and Porto from Pot 2. We couldn't draw Liverpool from Pot 3 or RB Leipzig from Pot 4.

If we drew Juventus, then it is only the English sides from Pot 2 we couldn't draw, plus Napoli and Roma drom Pot 3.

If we drew Benfica, then it is only the English sides and Porto from Pot 2 we couldn't draw, plus Liverpool from Pot 3 and Sporting CP from Pot 4.

If we drew Shakhtar Donetsk, then it is only the English sides from Pot 2 we couldn't draw, plus Liverpool from Pot 3.

If we drew Monaco, then it is only the English sides and PSG from Pot 2 we couldn't draw, plus Liverpool from Pot 3.

If we drew Spartak Moscow,  then it is only the English sides from Pot 2 we couldn't draw, plus Liverpool from Pot 3 and CSKA Moscow from Pot 4.
