Doubtful Janssen Will Get Any Game Time

Vincent-Janssen

With the departure of Mousa Dembele to China for a final payday, before he hangs up his boots, a place has become available in the UEFA Champions League squad.

That place has been taken by Juan Foyth, who previously had to be left out because we don't have enough home association-trained players.

Under Champions League rules Ben Davies is a non-association trained player. The number of association-trained players you have affects the number of non-association trained players you can pick.

Vincent Janssen is not in the Champions League squad and thus can not play in the competition.

That should tell supporters that his inclusion in the Premier League squad is merely a precaution and he won't be used unless it is absolutely necessary or he starts to show something remarkable on the training field.

Janssen seems very reluctant to leave Tottenham having turned down every offer, something Pochettino says he doesn't understand. Perhaps Janssen has a burning desire to prove Pochettino wrong.

The isn't a great long list of players who have worked their way back into Pochettino's plans after he has discarded them for whatever reason.

At the moment though it looks as though the club will be looking to sell him in the summer and one club interested, who have made inquiries is Schalke. They are joined by Real Betis and Sevilla.

I expect there will be plenty more suitors before the summer.
