Should Spurs Rescue Isco
Should Spurs rescue Isco this summer |
Tottenham target Isco is no longer flavour of the month at Real Madrid. All the talk in Spainis about his performances not being good enough and questions are being asked whether his time at the club is up.
The 25-year-old (26 in April) Spanish international midfielder could be ideal for our young, but now experienced and developing squad. The Real Madrid team was changed to accommodate him last season but he can not play in his favoured role behind a striker in their current system.
He is back to being a bench player and was given a start in the defeat to Espanyol, but he didn't impress. Isco wasn't happy with his substitution and he took 45 seconds to leave the pitch. Sergio Ramos didn't like Isco's attitude and told told him that 'at Madrid, you have to leave the pitch by running. You have to show a good attitude.'
So should Spurs try and rescue Isco this summer?
We play the possession football he excels in, Real Madrid's direct style doesn't. A problem though is that, as he signed a new contract his transfer value might be prohibitive, his contract runs until 2022.
Finally a quote from him yesterday after Spain defeated Argentina heavily:
"Here in the national team I have the confidence of the coach, not like in Real Madrid".
