The obedient hackery of the legendarily foul mouthed Paul Dacre is in full righteous indignation mode this morning, shrieking “Home Secretary’s fury at anti-Police shop window campaign by Lush stores (owned by a Corbyn backer) … HIGH ST CHAIN’S VILE SLUR ON POLICE”, and going on to tell “HIGH Street cosmetics chain Lush was condemned yesterday after it launched an ‘anti-Police hate campaign’”.
Those quote marks were doing good business; so were those peddling guilt by association. The Mail’s quote generator was also pressed into service, resulting in the kind of rant suitable for the most discerning rant connoisseur, as this sample shows.
“‘Crass and insensitive campaign’ - approved by the chain’s Jeremy Corbyn-supporting co-founder Mark Constantine [Jezza did it, see?] … bizarre stunt … It was given the go-ahead by Lush co-founder Mr Constantine, who holds Left-wing views [guilty as charged, then] and has appeared on stage with Jeremy Corbyn … Mr Constantine - a herbal trichologist [it means he’s dodgy, Mail readers] … Corbyn supporter [ditto]”.
Only as a footnote were readers told “The officers at the centre of the spy cops scandal were part of the Special Demonstration Squad, a unit within the Metropolitan Police’s Special Branch tasked with infiltrating various protest groups … Some of the officers involved were disciplined or sacked and the unit was shut down in 2008 … Compensation of £400,000 has been paid to one woman who had a child and the Met has officially apologised to eight women whose rights had been violated”. Minor point, eh?
And what the Mail is managing not to tell its readers is that its apparently unflinching support for the Police is yet another of those highly flexible principles which can be thrown overboard when the occasion demands, as those who have followed the Stephen Lawrence case over the years will know. It was all so different then.
Who's the f***ing c*** who called me a f***ing hypocrite, c***?!?!?
After the BBC reported “Revelations that a police officer spied on the family of Stephen Lawrence will lead to a judge-led public inquiry into undercover policing … A review found that a Metropolitan Police officer worked within the ‘Lawrence camp’ while a previous inquiry into the death was under way” in 2014, the Mail went postal.
“Lies, spies, cover-ups and corruption... the sickening extent of Stephen Lawrence's betrayal by the police is exposed as May orders inquiry into undercover smear op … 21 years of struggle. No family should suffer that: Stephen Lawrence's parents speak of devastation after learning officers spied on them”. And guess what?
The BBC report once more: “The undercover officer in question … was deployed by Scotland Yard's Special Demonstration Squad”. That’s the same Special Demonstration Squad whose activities have been targeted by the Lush campaign, which the Mail has been so swift to criticise. It’s so different when the boot is on the other foot.
So remember, Mail readers: spy cops are beyond reproach when Rotten Lefties (tm) go after them, but they’re fair game when the Vagina Monologue does. Do as the inmates of the Northcliffe Houe bunker say, not as they do. Can you smell hypocrisy?
