TRANSFER TALK
Confirmation of the story I brought you earlier about Neymar's move to PSG. A lot of people have been speculating but his deal with the Qatar government to promote the World Cup demonstrated that he was always going to move.
The headlines in two papers today show the move is on. Catalan paper SPORT lead with: "He's going," & Qatari paper Al Watan lead with: "Neymar to be welcomed to Qatar by PSG President Al Khelaifi."
In Spanish contracts the player, not the buying club has to pay the release clause in a contract, plus taxes if the selling club is awkward. Barcelona have insisted on the whole fee and that is going to be covered by his deal with the Qatar rulers.
They will pay him a fee that ensures he isn't out of pocket and if the reports I have seen are correct, his father will pick up 23 million euros for his purchase by Barcelona and around £32 million for his sale.
Nice work if you can get it and it demonstrates why agents are the driving force in football, they like to line their own pockets.
