Nigeria: Doctors Strike Forces More Patients To Join Long Queues In Private Hospitals

Following the strike action embarked upon by resident doctors, many patients are currently being moved from government owned hospitals in Lagos to the private hospitals to get better treatment.

Observers see patients have been bearing the brunt of the strike in the General hospitals, since the doctors to attend to them are not enough.

Our correspondent observed patients have besieged private hospitals like Ahmadiyya, Longing, Ore-Ofe hospitals amongst others.

Speaking to our correspondent, a staff of Lagos State University Hospital said nurses are merely going to work but could not do anything without the availability of doctors.

“We are just going to work just to make ourselves available but nurses are handicap without doctors. Patients are there hoping the strike would be called off this week”, she said.
