Ødegaard NOT putting Spurs on Red Alert

Ødegaard unlikely to join Spurs

Real Madrid starlet Martin Ødegaard is unlikely to be moving to Tottenham this summer

Transfer Talk - Martin Ødegaard

Martin Ødegaard (Norwegian pronunciation:ˈmɑrʈɪn ²øːdəˌɡɔːɾ) is a 19-year-old (20 in December) Norwegian international who plays as an attacking midfielder for Dutch club SC Heerenveen, on loan from Real Madrid.

He has been there for 18 months and will not return for another spell. This apparently puts Tottenham, Liverpool and West Ham United on 'red alert' according to the comedians at Mac Madison.

The young star will not get game time at Real Madrid with so many ahead of him in the pecking order and is thought to want to continue his development by playing regularly.

Mac Madison tells us the 'Danish international' (he has 12 Norwegian caps) have given us all a big boost, which rather overstates the players standing in world football. His words to Norwegian agency NTB don't actually offer any encouragement as he would be unlikely to play for all three teams week in week out.

"The important thing is to go to a team where I can play. A loan to another Spanish club is a good alternative, but right now I don’t know a whole lot.
“It is important for me to find the right environment of a club, where I can play but as yet there have been no decisions, but I will not return to the Netherlands. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but if nothing happens, I’ll do preseason with Madrid and it’s a great chance to show myself.”

A loan deal would be of no use to Tottenham at all, it would simply develop a player for another club and leave a whole to be filled when he departed. He is under contract until 2021.

Another example of the truth getting in the way of a story, well a non-story to be more precise.
