Zokora and Mukena

TOTTENHAM TALK

Former Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora recently signed a one-year deal with Indonesian side Semen Padang and the 36-year-old (37 in December) has now completed his first training session with them.

Zokora joined Tottenham in the summer of 2006 following his performances for the Ivory Coast at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany in a deal reported to be worth £8.2 million. He won the 2008 League Cup with us, a Jonathan Woodgate header securing the victory over Chelsea in extra-time. He also played in the final the following year when John O'Shea should have been sent off in the first half, but as it was Manchester United at Wembley the referee inexplicably allowed him to stay on the field and influence the result of the match.  We drew 0-0 and lost on penalties.

After Anton Walkes was released a while back having been loaned out loan MLS side, we have now released another youngster, Belgian Joy Mukena. The 17-year-old (18 in July) central defender has been snapped up by Watford, he has signed a scholarship deal with them.

Mukena made his youth team debut as an Under-16 during the 2014-15 season, he appeared as a substitute against West Brom in the penultimate game of the season. He began a two-year scholarship at Tottenham at the start of the 2015-16 campaign.

We wish him well at Watford.
