(UPI) -- Gunmen opened fire at a crowd of people outside of a mosque in France, injuring eight people.
The shooting, which has not been ruled an act of terrorism, took place in Avignon, Provence in southern France at approximately 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Among the injured was a seven-year-old girl.
French news site La Provence reported that worshippers were leaving the mosque when two "hooded" men arrived in a Rebault Clio and opened fire.
Police said that the shooting might have been gang-related and not an act of terror against Muslims.
