TRANSFER TALK
Following on from the revealing Tweet (link below) from a source with agents contacts, former page 3 girl turned sports presenter Amy Christophers, that suggested 17-year-old (18 next May) Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon had agreed to join Spurs, I can confirm that the two parties did meet yesterday to discuss a deal.
Moving on to an outgoing player, German newspaper Bild are suggesting that FC Koln (Cologne) will try to re-purchase they player they sold to us on 20 May 2015, 24-yar-old (25 in November) Austrian international (he has 8 full international caps) centre-back Kevin Wimmer.
The transfer fee reported at the time was £4.3 million (€4.92m - AUS$7.39m - US$5.51m) and last July he signed a contract extension until 2021. His full fee would have been £6.20 million (€7.1m - AUS$10.66m - US$7.94m) if all the performance clauses had been met, which with a lack of playing time they haven't.
As is often the case when a player isn't a regular in the first team, other Premier League clubs take an interest. WBA are the latest to ask to be kept informed of his situation, Southampton are tracking him as are several clubs in Italy andTurkish side Galatasaray.
The news from Germany is that he will probably be too expensive for FC Koln to sign him. There is a suggestion Spurs have set an opening asking price of £17.46 million (€20m - AUS$30.03m - US$22.37m) on him, which would be lowered in negotiations but not to the extent that the German side would want.
Wimmer had a meeting with Pochettino in December over his future, he isn't happy just sitting on a bench, he wants to play and wanted to go out on loan in January. His former club have tried to take him but Pochettino refused to release him needing hi for cover in case of injuries.
Given the price we are looking for for him, a later rather than sooner exit might be expected.
