Sessegnon wants to stay in London,Spurs doing business early

TRANSFER TALK

One report leads to another report and another report and so on. The West London Sport are referencing the Liverpool Echo who are merely reporting news they have read on the Internet elsewhere.

They suggest that Liverpool are 'pulling out of the race' to signFulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon because they doubt his commitment to the club. hardly surprising when the kid wants to stay in London near his family. It's very good of Liverpool to pull out of a race they have been rejected in. I suppose it is face saving for their supporters, although some are already moaning that it is going to be a long summer with Spurs beating them to players.

All the talk is that we are very close to tying up a deal for the 17-year-old (18 in May). Joining a top four club, playing UEFA Champions League football next season and having challenged for the title for the past two seasons will mean he will have to develop his game.

Fun fact: Sessegnon is known to get buses home from games - seen here after a 1-1 draw vs. Brentford. London through-and-through.

We don't yet know how good he is or how good he is going to become until we see him under the pressure of paying for us. It is a totally different pressure playing for Fulham in the Championship than it is to play for a top four club where winning is expected. Some players can't handle that extra pressure.

Will Ben Davies remain as the backup to Danny Rose next season if Sessegnon signs, I believe he will. I think for the first season Sessegnon would be third choice and possible get outings in the domestic cup games as well as cameo appearances. That as the plan for Dele Alli, but the precocious talent had other ideas.

Assuming Kevin Wimmer leaves I'll be interested to see if Ben Davies is going to be used as centre-back cover for Jan Vertonghen in a back three, which might give Sessegnon more opportunities at left-back, unless we see him operating further forward.

With reports of 19-year-old (20 next July) Turkish 'wonderkid' Cengiz Ünder agreeing to join Spurs, 30-yearold (31 next May) Kevin Grameiro very close subject to Atlético Madrid having a transfer ban overturned and Sessegnon also, we are once again getting some business done early it seems.
