National Ask Islam spokesperson Ahmed Sahi hopes visitors will talk walk away from an upcoming question and answer session with a better understanding of the oft-misunderstood faith.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association will host the event starting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Peterborough Lions Community Centre. The event will include a free dinner and interactive question and answer session.
There is an acute shortage of correct, genuine and authentic information on Islam in Canada, where most only known what they see in the media, organizers stated.
But that ignores most of a vast religion that spans hundreds of cultures and dozens of countries with rich and deep traditions of learning and spirituality, they added.“It is important to provide our fellow Canadians with the correct information,” Sahi said. “That helps everybody ... We’re all in this together.”
