Spurs transfer stories from AS and Foot Mercato

TRANSFER TALK

Vincent Marcel is a 20-year-old (21 next April) French Under-20 international (he has 2 caps) who plays as a midfielder for OGC Nice in Ligue 1. The left-footed right winger is under contract until 2021 and made 10 appearances this season. he played for just 441 minutes, equivalent to 4.9 full games.

Tottenham have been linked with him with Foot Mercato suggesting we have offered him a 5-year contract to beat off competition from French side Nantes. The suggestion is that he has agreed to the offer in principle, nothing more. The two clubs haven't discussed price.

I wonder if this guy comes as a recommendation from new chief scout Steve Hitchen, who is said to have en encyclopedic knowledge of French football.

Over in Spain, newspaper AS report that Mauricio Pochettino wants 19-year-old (20 next January) Barcelona youngster Carles Aleñá Castillo, who is a central midfielder for their B side and a Spanish Under-19 international ( he has 8 caps scoring 2 goals).

The left-footed, Adidas sponsored talent has a contract until 2018 and has thus far refused to sign another one with the chances of game time limited. The newspaper say there are quite a few clubs following his position with interest but that Tottenham are best placed, suggesting we have told him he would be with the first team squad immediately and not the Development squad.

Aleñá has suggested he wants time to think what to do. He played 40 minutes across 3 appearances in LaLiga this season and 76 minutes in 1 Copa del Rey fixture in which he scored.
