Stoke bid for Wimmer but are Crystal Palace in the driving seat?

TRANSFER TALK

Stoke City have lodged a £15 million bid for Austrian centre-back Kevin Wimmer and reports suggest he is Mark Hughes main centre-back target now. Spurs have turned down the bid.

WBA made the same offer but manager Tony Pulis wanted to play him at left-back and that doesn't interest 24-year-old (25 in November) Wimmer.

Crystal Palace remain in the frame as Wimmer, who Mauricio Pochettino would happily keep at Spurs, seeks regular first tam football elsewhere ahead of next summer's World Cup in Russia.

Stoke have already signed Bruno Martins Indi and Kurt Zouma so Wimmer would want assurances of regular first team Premier League football. Would he get it at Stoke. Websites claiming Mark Hughes team are favourites to sign him may be wide of the mark, it may be Crystal Palace who are in the driving seat.

The arrival of Davinson Sanchez allows Wimmer to leave and the imminent arrival of Juan Foyth presumably allows Cameron Carter-Vickers to go out on loan to Sheffield United, where he can gain valuable first team experience.
